ok...so you've read through chapter 5...
take out a sheet of notebook paper and write me a two paragraph summary on what has happened so far. That means two 8 sentence paragraphs.
Then take a sheet of white printer paper and draw a picture showing your favorite part so far...color it...and write a caption for it...this is due tomorrow.
read chapters 6 and 7 by tomorrow :)

In chapters 4 and 5, Cole has to fish for all meals insead of hunt. He feels deprived, stripped of the abilty. Now every time he walks into the forest, the rabbits and squirrels frisk around carelessly, knowing they have no reason to be afraid. Now he has started to count the days-only two or three more sticks untill his family comes home. Then he finds the cabin ransacked and has no idea who could have done that! He figures it can't have been Ben, Indians don't waste food. But then who could it have been? So Cole figures he'll make the best of it-he can't starve with fish...right?
ReplyDeleteCole keeps discovering the bee tree. His father always told him to leave it alone. But he thinks some honey would be so good compared to fish! So he walks to the tree. And notices that the bark around the tree is rotting, he tugs it off. With it comes vicsious bees! He is stung everywhere. So then...the Indians find him and treat him.
in the first chapters his dad is leaving to get his family. he is also leaving to hunt. he got a watch from his dad. it was his grandfathers. he also got a rifle. it was for protection and to kill animals for food. he is missing something he didn't think he would miss. having someone to talk to. he meets an indian named Ben. he described him as a fat man with reddish whiskers. Ben took the RIFLE!!!
ReplyDeletein the next chapters he remembers the hive of bees. he and his father passed it often. he had wanted something besides fish. something more tasty. he remembered the hive and he decided i guess it's worth a few stings. so he goes to the bee hive and breaks off a piece of bark to reach the honey a swarm of bees came towards him. he got stung again and again. he ran into the lake and he couldn't reach the surface his foot was caught! he feels hand yanking him up he thinks it is his dad. but how could he be home so early? he looks up and it's an indian! he wakes up laying on the floor of the cabin he falls back asleep. he wakes up and the indian is giving him medicane. he falls back asleep and never sees him again.

ReplyDeleteIn chapters 4 & 5 Matt lost his ability of being able to hunt with the rifle his dad had given him. He lost that ability because it was stolen by a man named Ben. So now his only way of getting meat is to fish. After one time when he went fishing Matt came back to see that his house had been attacked by a bear. At first he thought that Ben had come back. But then he knew he was wrong because Ben wouldn't have wasted food. Since he was being bored by plain fish he decided to go try and get honey from a beehive. That was a really bad decision.
ReplyDeleteOnce he got to the bee tree he climbed up to the top of it where the opening was. He reached in to grab some honeycomb. But the bees got angry and started to sting him. So he runs down to the lake to get in the water so the bees won't bother him. Then when he was coming back up to catch his breath he couldn't because his foot was caught. A man grabbed him and got him back up on shore. Matt passed out. The man turned out to be an Indian that had brought his son with him. He put some medicine in Matt's mouth that made him pass out. When he woke up they were gone and he never saw them again.
matts dad has to go to massuchusetts to take care of matts mother and upcoming sister.and before mats dad left he gave mat his rifle. and matt has to watch over the corn feild and the house whilehis dad is away.and one night a man named ben came along.and his name was ben and he was acting all weird and asking a bunch of qestions.and matt was letinghim come in and ben asked were matts dad was and matt replied away im here all alone. and ben said that he wasnt aloud to go back to the town.
ReplyDeleteand that morning when matt woke and ben was gone and so was his rifle and he new ben stole it.now he has to fish for food. and when he went fishing the be hive him in his dad used to pass. got really up set an were sting him to death. so matt has to jump in the lake. and when he does he sant reach the surface.and when he woke hse saw indians .and with medican he went to sleep
Matt's farther is leaving. He is going to go pick up his family. Matt sees food all over the place. He thinks it is a bear. So went to go get his rifle. But he could not find it. Then he remembered that Ben took it. So now he has to fish for food not hunt.

He went to the bee hive and broke off a peice of the honey. The Bees came swarming out. They were heading right too him. So he got the honey and ran a way.
In chapter 4 when he was walking across the shore and he had heard a crackle so he hunched down. around the corner of the cabin he saw the the door swing like crazy. Acrosss the cabin floor was flour alover had Ben come back? But he thought for a second Ben would not waste food. Was it indians. No know human would scatter food around like this he thought. Then he thought well the damage is done.So he cleaned the bowls and went to sleep.
ReplyDeleteThen a couple of days latter he remembered that bee hive his father and him had discovered. And once he had asked his father were there any wild bee's. But his father had said no. One day he made up his mind and went to the bee hive and they were going crazy and he felt a sharp sting OUCH!!
Then he remembered water and once he came up out of the water he was choking. THen he heard an voice say Dont move he looked up and theer were indians.
Matt has gone from Massachusetts to Maine and when his father goes back to get the rest of his family Matt is left alone. Just before his father leaves he gives him his rifle and a watch that has beenm passed down from generations. the first few weeks Matt is happy to be alone without all of his father's tips. But soon Matt realizes that he misses having someone to talk to. One day when Matt was coming home from a hunting trip he found someone waiting for him, this man's name was Ben, and Matt not wanting to be rude invites him for dinner telling him that his father was out hunting and wouldn't be home for awhile. Ben was a very fat man so he easly scarfed down his portion of the meal. After Ben was done eating he told Matt his story. Aparently Ben had been moving around Indian tribes and the reason he wasn't in one right then was because people didn't want him there and he had done something. After Ben had fallen asleep Matt picked up the dinner stuff and went to bed. Matt started to wonder what Ben had done. Matt tried to stay up but late at night he fell asleep. When Matt woke up in the morning Ben was gone and so was his father's rifle!! Matt had to live off fish and one day after coming home from a good day of fishing Matt discovered that his log cabin had been broken into. When he got closer he realized that it was a bear that did the crime. The bear had smashed everything on the ground. There was a smidge of salt left and Matt used that on his fish dinner. Matt couldn't shandle not having anymore molasses. He had saw a bee hive one day while he and his father were traveling there. Matt decided that it was worth a few bee stings to get some honey. When Matt got there tore off the bark that was hiding the bee hive and when he reached inside a swarm of bees came rushing out! Matt ran to the nearest river and jumped straight in. In the process of getting the bees off Matt got his foot stuck in the roots at the bottom. He was struggling to get free when a hand reached down and pulled him up, it was an Indian! The Indian carried Matt back to the cabin and as soon as Matt was in his bed he fell right to sleep. Matt woke up a few times so that the Indian could feed him some medicine but fell asleep once he had taken it. Matt's journey is still going on so better get back to reading.

Matt is going to hunt he sees food every were scattered. so he guesses it's a bear.He says to himself it is probably more than a half mile away already. His dad gave him a watch. he had no gun. he saw a bush of blueberries.he wanted some blueberries and a good pot of meat stew.July was perfect weather.
ReplyDeleteMatt was surrounded by bees. he was fishing so he jumped in the water.he went under water and the shot right up.the bees where still there.he went under until hos lungs where bursting for air.when he came up he got stung. he saw some Indians.They said"stay still bee sting poisonous." he woke up in a cabin and never saw them again.
In the frist chapters matt's dad goes bring his mother and sister Sarah. Matt's dad tells him to cut a nuch when each week is over. Matt soon finds out it's really hard doing all the chores that need to be doen. He also finds out it's really lonly and he misses talking to someone. Matt gets a suprice visiter. His name is Ben. He says people are after him. Matt doesn't forget his manners a invites him to supper. After super Ben ask for tobaco. He also tryed to make Matt sell his ritfle, but he said NO!
ReplyDeleteIn chapters 4 and 5 Matt went fishing the next morning. He went down a little more this time. He had one luky cach. then he remeberd the bee hive that him and his dad found. He thought a few stings wouldn't hurt. He has so hungry!!! he tore off the bark and a bunch of swerming bees came out. he ran in to the river, but his foot got cought and he couldn't get to hte surfes, then he's being pulled up.At first he thought it was his dad but then he went to sleep. he woke up on the cabin floor and a indian was giving medison. He went bake asleep and he was GONE!!!
in chapter 5 matt went to go fish to get some food and when he came back one of the hendges on the door were broke.And all the flower and mollasses were poored out on the floor. matt thought that ben had came back for food.but he decided that ben would not have left most of the food all spilled on the floor.he had found only a few grains of salt left to put on the fish.matt sprinkled the grains of salt on the fish.matt did not want to think of of eating so much fish with nothing on them.he thought how much he love the sweet taste of mollasses.he thought of the bee hole and how much honey tasted like mollases.
ReplyDeleteand how much he wanted that honey to put on the fish.so the next day matt went to get some honey and when he got there he climbed the tree.the hole was not ig enough. so he broke a peice of the tree right by the hole to make it bigger. the bees were not happy and they went after him.he felt 1 then 2 then so much he couldn't count.he got down and ran as fast as he could. he ran all the way to the water and jumped in.the last thing he remembord was an indian picked him up and carried him home.
So far this has happened. His father left. he gave him two gifts. One was a watch,one was a gun.He hunts mostly rabbit. He some times he fishes. A person came. His name was Ben.

He remembers a tree with a bee hive. He decides to steal some honey. BIG mistake. He gets stung every where. Thankfully an indian was there to save him. Thats what happened so far.
Okay this is what has happened in the story so far. Matt's father is going to get the rest of the family.Before he left he gave him two gifts. A watch and a rifle. Then when Matt is alone by he became sad when there was no body to talk to.After that Matt meets a stranger who's name is Ben. Ben is this really fat man.Later when Matt was sleeping,Ben snatched this rifle away from Matt.

He and his father had discover it weeks ago.High in a tree, at the swampy edge of the pond they had called Loon pond, the bees where buzzing in and out of the old woodpecker hole.Way after that he whats to get some honey.Then a swarm of bees came flying at him with stingers.He tried to escape them by going under water. Later his lunges had no air and a Indian came to save him.And that is all. =P
This is what happend so far. His father left to get the rest of the family. Before he left he gave matt two very important gifts. One was a really expensive watch that has been in his family for a long time. The other one was a gun. Matt likes libing alone but he also misses having someone totalk to. then he meets a man named Ben. Ben is well really fat. he ate all the dinner Matt made! But it turns out that Ben is a bad man. He steals Matt's gun and runs off.
ReplyDeleteNow Matt is left with wepon to hunt. you would think this is the worst it can get, you are wrong. a bear reaks his house and matt is left with very little food. He tries to get honny from a bees nest in a tree, but that failed bad. his spoon wouldnt fit in the hole so he tried to use a pice of bark but when he broke it off the tree the bees attacked him. he jumped in the river to make them leave. They just waited to sting him some more. Matt thinks it over he is dead but he feels hands pick him up he wonders if it is his dad's but no it was an indian. the indain says, "dont move bees have posion must get out." they take him to there tibe and give him medicene to heal him. that is just about it I hope you liked my summery. I didnt even use the book.
